About Michael
Writing and recording? Playing live? Yes, please, to all of the above!
Michael Scott Roberts is an independent, Florida-based artist creating indie country music rooted in adult alternative melody and emotional storytelling. His songs balance modern country warmth with a thoughtful, singer-songwriter sensibility, favoring honesty, connection, and meaning over polish.
At the core of his writing is a deep interest in the human experience - particularly relationships, time, loss, hope, resilience, reflection, and change. His songs often emerge from lived experience, sometimes from the stories of others, and at times from places that feel harder to name. For Michael, these ideas aren't meant to be stored away or left unheard. Music, in his view, is meant to be shared - a way of offering connection, comfort, and hopefully joy to those who find it.
Musically, his songwriting is most often anchored in acoustic guitar or piano. A classically trained pianist and self-taught guitarist, Michael moves comfortably between both instruments, allowing each to inspire songs in different ways. Some compositions begin with quiet piano lines, others with a guitar pattern and melody, but all are built with the intention of serving the song first.
As a listener experience, his music isn't meant to deliver a single emotional outcome. Sometimes the goal is reassurance - the feeling that you're not alone. Other times it's resilience, release, or simply the enjoyment of a melody, groove, or lyric that invites the listener to settle in and turn it up!!! Whether reflective or upbeat, the goal of his music is to feel human, accessible, and sincere.
In addition to his original work, Michael is an active performing musician in the Florida music scene. He works as a vocalist, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist for 22N, one of Central Florida's most energetic and engaging dance cover bands. While stylistically distinct from his original material, this work reflects his versatility as a musician and his love of live performance and connection with audiences.
Michael releases his original music independently, valuing a direct relationship with listeners and the freedom to share songs without unnecessary barriers. This approach allows his work to exist as an open invitation rather than a product - available to be experienced, supported, and shared on an individual level.
Much of his songwriting takes place at night, alone in his studio, where quiet hours allow space for ideas to surface naturally. It's in those moments of isolation and focus that many of his songs take shape, guided less by trend or expectation and more by instinct and intent.
